Bowls Homepage
We love making bowls. It’s where it all starts. The new woodturner gets an inexpensive lathe, some second hand wood turning tools and a couple of blanks then sets to making their first piece. That first piece is often a bowl. They are relatively easy to make, have a use around the home and are nice to show off to friends.
That’s how it starts….
Soon, as the wood turning bug takes control, the woodturner buys a new lathe and some better tools. They join a wood turning club, find a source of more exotic woods, then start making other, more challenging pieces – fancy boxes with screwed on lids, candlestick holders with twisted columns, vases of all sizes and types, yarn holders, goblets with delicately thin stems, Christmas Trees… this list goes on. Then they go to shows, start selling their wares in local shops or craft fairs, maybe even an online store. Don’t start me on the new shed (the man cave of legend), heated for winter working, coffee and tea making facilities, a radio and probably, a workshop dog for company. Oh yes, the bug has bitten and you know what? we don’t mind.
But we always return to bowls. It’s in our DNA, we can’t help it.
Below are some of the bowls that I’ve made. Click on the image to get more details and see where you can buy them from. Remember, each piece is unique, no two are the same.
